It begins...

The first year is a blur. Thank God for photographers. Aside from a folder full of blurry iPhone selfies, the only real photos I have during Layla's first year are the ones I hired a photographer to take. Literally, the first year is blur. Life is lived in 3 hour increments that consist of fumbling around for diapers and wipes, trying to feed a bottomless pit and if you're lucky, a little sleep here and there. But man, is it worth it. Once you make it through the first year, you really do feel like you've made it.

Once I finally started to get more than a few hours of sleep at a time, I began to think to myself that I really would love to start taking better pictures. Life is so short and let's be honest, iPhones break, the iCloud never seems to have enough storage, and the kids are always moving too fast to snap a good shot. Am I right?

Thank you Amazon for a great deal on a Nikon camera! I had no idea what I was doing or how to use it, but like anything else, there's a YouTube video for that!

So, we jet off to St. John, USVI for the much anticipated wedding for one of my dearest friends. And of course, I bring my snazzy new camera... it's funny because I've learned so much about my camera since that trip, and so much about myself as a photographer. Nontheless... I still managed to snap some great photos and left with the itch for more. Way more.
