Our Journey

When Mike & I found out we were pregnant with Layla, there were so many emotions. It's no secret to our family and friends that we didn't have the easiest journey to our sweet Layla Jane. We struggled with a diagnosis of "unexplained infertility" and for almost 2 years, we rode the roller coaster. Until one day, it was our turn. God's timing is perfect. Always.

October is {Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month}. The statistics are 1 in 4. I am 1 in 4. We were very lucky to have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery with Layla, but earlier this year after going through infertility treatments again in an effort to give her a little brother or sister, sadly we miscarried. We grieved our loss and clung to our Faith, and we continue to put one foot in front of the other. Layla is such a blessing and so we continue to try and be the best parents we can be to our daughter. Our journey continues and our story is most certainly not over.

I wanted to share some of our own photos we took during my pregnancy with Layla and also share some of the photos my wonderful friend (non-professional photographer, but probably should be), Brandi so beautifully captured during Layla's birth. Again, I couldn't have known it then, but I think my passion for photography was hiding inside me all along.
